 Third story Failed surprise return of venus williams By Ejieze Emmanuel Contrary to what tennis fans earlier anticipated, the 44 years old Venus will not be appearing at the BNP Paribas Open after an initial announcement that she would be competing in the tournament courtesy of a wild-card permit. The Indian Wells tournament director Tommy has said in a statement posted on social media "Our team has been informed that Venus Williams is not accepting the wild card this year. We wish Venus all the best and hope to see her back in Indian Wells in the future". It was an unforeseen turnaround that came several hours after an audio made rounds on social media of Venus Williams saying she would not be competing at the tournament in the Coachella Valley.
